Terms of use

In short: ComdKit is a personal planning and training aid. Use it for yourself and your team, not for real operations. You must be 18 or over. The app, its code, its design and the ComdKit name belong to KodeKin Ltd, so don't copy, resell or rebuild it.

1. These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and KodeKin Ltd ("we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17521806), registered office 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA, which makes ComdKit. They apply when you use the ComdKit app (on iPhone, Android or the web at comdkit.com) or this website. By using ComdKit you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use it. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your data.

If you got ComdKit from the App Store, Apple's standard licence terms for apps also apply, and Apple isn't responsible for ComdKit or its support. If you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply.

2. Training use only

ComdKit is a personal planning aid for training and exercises. It is not an official Ministry of Defence or British Army system, and it is not made by or for them.
Don't use it for real operations, and don't put anything classified, protectively marked (OFFICIAL-SENSITIVE or above) or operationally sensitive into it.
Follow your unit's rules on phones, location sharing and OPSEC. Team messages and positions go over the mobile network.
Grids, bearings, maps, timings and AI answers can be wrong. Always check against your map, compass and the chain of command. The SOS feature is not a replacement for your radio chain or 999.

3. Your account

You must be 18 or over to use ComdKit. We'll close any account we find belongs to someone younger.
ComdKit is invite-only while it's in testing. Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what's done with your account.
We may pause or close an account that breaks these terms. You can delete your account at any time: how to delete it.

4. Chats, teams and what you share

Only send things you have the right to share, and nothing offensive, threatening, sexual, unlawful or abusive. Don't harass anyone, and don't share anyone's position, photo or details without their agreement.
You can report a message or a person, and block someone, from the chat or their profile. We review reports and may remove content, or pause or close accounts, that break these terms.
Your blood group and allergies are only shared with your team if you choose to share them (Settings → Personal information). Only share them if you're happy for everyone in your team to see them.
Chats with friends and new teams are end-to-end encrypted, so we can't read them unless someone reports a message to us.

5. Who owns ComdKit

ComdKit, including its software and code, screens and design, icons, maps styling, slate card layouts, text, the ComdKit name and the CK logo, is owned by KodeKin Ltd and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Using the app gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use it. It doesn't give you ownership of any of it.

You must not, and must not help anyone else to:

copy, download, scrape or reproduce the app's code, design or content, except as the app normally works;
reverse engineer, decompile or take apart the app or its server, or try to get round its security, sign-in or limits (including the shared map and AI allowances);
sell, rent, share access to, or build a competing product from ComdKit or any part of it;
use the ComdKit name, CK logo or anything confusingly similar.

Material you create in ComdKit (your orders, notes, marks and photos) stays yours.

6. Other people's content and services

Maps come from Ordnance Survey, OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, Esri, Mapbox and others, each under their own terms and credited on the map. Doctrine and formats such as slate cards are summarised for training; the original publications belong to their owners. Battle Box opens the MOD's own website, which the MOD controls.

7. AI features

AI answers are suggestions and can be wrong. Check them before you rely on them. ComdKit AI comes with a monthly allowance; if you add your own AI key, your use is under your own account with that provider.

8. Changes and availability

ComdKit is in testing and will change. Features may be added, changed or removed, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. When these terms change, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant we'll tell you in the app before it applies, and by carrying on using ComdKit after that you accept the new terms. If you don't, you can delete your account at any time.

9. Liability

ComdKit is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, ComdKit isn't liable for any loss or damage from using or not being able to use it, including decisions made from its grids, maps, timings or AI answers. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

10. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute.
